What to do if the Download button redirects
Recently, some adware has been preventing people from downloading AdwareMedic, by causing a click on the Download button to redirect to another site (typically the MacKeeper site) on the affected Mac. I'm not sure whether this is an attempt to prevent download of AdwareMedic, or if it's simply an effect applied to any "download" button on any site. Either way, though, this is a definite symptom of having adware installed.
If you are experiencing this problem, there are a few things you can try. First, try copying the following URL and pasting it into your browser's address bar, which will initiate the download of the AdwareMedic.dmg file:
http://www.adwaremedic.com/AdwareMedic.dmg
If that doesn't work, try opening Safari and disabling all Safari extensions, by opening Safari's preferences, clicking the Extensions icon and toggling the switch to "Off".
Then try downloading AdwareMedic in Safari. If it still doesn't work, restart your Mac in safe mode and try downloading in Safari again:

Another possibility would be to download AdwareMedic from a different computer, then transfer it to the affected Mac using a flash drive, or something else along those lines.
Finally, you could try following the manual removal instructions in my Adware Removal Guide:

If the problem persists even after you manage to download and run AdwareMedic, or follow the manual removal instructions, there are some other things to try here:
